Memphis Dog Rescue: How Dogs 2nd Chance Finds Local Dogs Homes

Dogs 2nd Chance is a Memphis dog rescue based just north of the city in Munford, TN. We’re an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue: no shelter building, no paid staff, and we place dogs with families across Memphis and the Mid-South. If you want to adopt a dog, foster, volunteer, or donate, those links get you started.

Where We Operate

We’re headquartered in Munford, about 30 minutes north of downtown Memphis. Our foster homes and adopters are spread across the whole metro area, including Memphis, Bartlett, Germantown, Collierville, Cordova, Southaven, and Olive Branch. Most of our dogs come from high-risk shelters or off the street in and around Memphis, get placed in a local foster home, and are adopted by families in the city and its suburbs.

How Adoption Works

Every dog we place is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and evaluated by a foster family before adoption, so what you meet is close to what you get. Read About Adopting a Dog for the full process, then submit an Adoption Application. You can also meet dogs in person at one of our Memphis-area adoption events.

What Memphis Families Say

Chloe, who lives in Memphis, adopted her dog Dalton from us and later adopted a second dog, Mulligan. Read her Q&A here. Megan and Jeremy, also Memphis-based, adopted their dog Rosco in 2011 and are still one of our favorite adoption stories: read Megan’s Q&A.
