Dogs 2nd Chance is a Tennessee dog rescue based in Munford, just north of Memphis, and we place dogs with families across the Mid-South and New England.

Most of our adoptable dogs live inside foster homes. 

Fostering teaches house manners, helps to potty/crate train and accustoms the dogs become familiar with the sights, sounds of living in a home environment.

Our adoptions are local, local + transport, and transport.

Memphis Metro Adoptions

We adopt locally to homes within one hour of the greater Memphis area. The local adoption fee is $250.

In-State Transport Adoptions

We adopt beyond the greater Memphis area using a transport service. This is for adopters who are nearby but are greater than an hour from the Memphis metropolitan area. The in-state adoption fee is $300 which includes a $50 non-refundable transport fee.

On adoption day you will receive:

  • You dog with a microchip
  • The microchip number
  • Dog food
  • Tick and heartworm preventatives
  • The veterinary record

Out-of-State Transport Adoptions

We place dogs across the Mid-South and up through New England using a licensed transport partner, H.E.A.R.T.S., LLC.

We adopt using a transport service to drop-off locations in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The transport adoption fee is $500 and includes a $150 non-refundable transportation fee.

Adopters pickup their dogs at the stops outlined below. People in New England can pickup their new adoption in Connecticut or any stop south of there.

How Transport Works

Our transport partner, H.E.A.R.T.S., LLC, runs one route from Mississippi up through New England, so families across a lot of different states can meet one of our dogs without a trip to Tennessee.

How a Reservation Works

Once your application is approved, we reserve your dog a seat on the next available run.

Routes go out roughly every two weeks, picking up in Mississippi and Tennessee on Thursday and Friday and reaching the furthest Northeast stops by Saturday.

You’ll get a pickup time and location days ahead. We also send same-day text updates if the schedule shifts.

What Happens at Pickup

The transport is only at each stop for 5-10 minutes. Arrive early because if you arrive late, the transport truck might already be gone. Bring a slip-style leash because standard collars, harnesses and retractable leashes aren’t accepted. Hearts will supply you with the correct leash for a fee, or you can buy one ahead of time.
